Mr Barham Fakouri is a Senior Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He graduated from medical school in Duesseldorf Germany in 1996. He then specialised in Neurosurgery and qualified as a Neurosurgeon in 2003 from a teaching hospital of the University of Bonn in Germany.
During and after the completion of his neurosurgical training, Mr Fakouri has completed spinal fellowship trainings including Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery at the Centre for Spinal Surgery in Nottingham and a fellowship at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He is one of the few Spinal Surgeons who have undergone dual spinal training, in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery, making him incredibly skilled and knowledagble in the management and treatment of all spinal conditions.
Mr Fakouri was initially a consultant spinal surgeon in Cologne Germany before he was appointed as Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where he has developed the Cervical Spine Service. He is currently the Lead Clinician for the department of Adult Spinal Surgery. He has performed a huge number of spinal operations in various countries over his career.
Mr Bahram Fakouri practices privately at London Bridge Hospital, BMI Blackheath, and Hospital of St John’s and Elizabeth in London.
Mr Bahram Fakouri has a dedicated interested in research and was awarded a Medical Doctorate by the Medical University in Duesseldorf in 1998. He has published in many peer-reviewed spinal journals.
His has a conservative approach to spinal surgery, and only operates when absolutely necessary and in the best interest of the patient. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, and he is passionate about new surgical techniques that can minimise the potential risks and complications of spinal interventions, and reduce patients’ hospital stay. Most of his procedures are performed as day-case or require a hospital stay less than 24 hours.
His areas of interest include cervical disc herniation, cervical spondylotic myelopathy, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, adult spinal deformity, spinal fractures, spinal tumours, spinal infection and minimally invasive procedures.
